How Lingofriends ensures quality

You decide our mentors quality    

Every day there are new members signing up to become mentors. All mentors are rated by its students, which are other “regular” members on Lingofriends. The stars on each mentor’s profile visualize their quality. The students feedback isn’t editable, which leads to high qualitative mentors will get lots of lessons requests and vice versa. In this way the rating functionality becomes a self-remedial system.

Lingofriends rating system

The visualized stars are based on an algorithm called the “Wilson Score Confidence interval”. The algorithm’s advantage is its ability to balance the proportion of positive ratings with the uncertainty of a small number of ratings. It visualizes the highest number of positive ratings per rating.
