Lingofriends is a meeting place for language interested people all around the world. It isn’t easy, and it can often be time consuming to maintain and improve a new language. But we promise, it’s worth the effort. Before contacting someone, you can get to know a little bit about them by looking at their Profile.
Does Lingofriends really work?
Don't ask us, ask the people who met a language friend at Lingofriends. Add a question at the Forum or shoot the question to a member that seems to be very active on the service.
What are the odds of meeting a language friend online?
Sorry, but we don’t have a statistical equation you can use. However, thousands of people have started to chat online since our launch in August 2007. So our best advice would be to go out there, make yourself seen, and give it some effort. So, why don't you register and give it a try?
How do I cancel my membership?
To cancel your membership, just login, go to "My Profile" and then select "Edit Profile", there you find a button called ”Delete Membership”. We of course wish you the best, but if you get second thoughts, don't hesitate. You are always welcome to sign up again.
When can I email other members?
You can email other members, whether you're initiating or replying, as soon as you have registered. That is free of charge.

What happens at Lingofriends stays at Lingofriends. It’s up to the user to decide whether the member wants to be anonymous or not. So either you pick an alias for your username or you use your own name. Either way, your personal information such as your email address and your complete name won’t be seen by any members with one exception. If you as a regular member request a mentor led lesson. Your registered email address will be shown to the mentor. So he/she can reach you at the scheduled time.
Where do I receive emails from other members?
All emails from other members are sent to your Lingofriends inbox, we will send you an notification to the email address you registered with.
I just want to search for people. Why should I create a Profile?
You're here to meet people and a Profile helps you do that. Filling out a Profile will make it easier for other members to see you. Not to mention, it's the only way other members can find you. What is the process for creating a Profile?
To create your Profile, just log in and click on My Profile at the top of any page. It's fun, quick, and easy. And remember, no one likes a boring Profile. Have some fun with it. Be creative. You're here to meet people, so make them want to meet you. This is also where you can add a photo to your Profile, which gets members up to 15 times more attention. Finally, whenever you're finished hyping yourself up, just hit the "Save changes" button. So post a pic. Be creative. But keep it clean. Our Customer Care team reviews our members.
How do I update or edit my Profile after it's been posted?
Edit your Profile whenever you want by logging in and clicking on My Profile at the top of any page. After you've finished properly reflecting your life changes, just hit "Save changes".
Why should I post a photo to my Profile?
Say what you will, but guys are 14 times more likely to look at a Profile with a photo. Women are 8.5 times more likely to look at your Profile if you have a pic. And members with photos get up to 15 times more attention than those without one. So you can be nice and funny or you can be nice, funny, and get more attention by adding your photo today.
How do I add a photo to my Profile?
You need to go to “My Profile”, then hit Edit Profle and choose Upload your photo. After you've posted your Profile, you can upload a photo directly from your computer. Your photo will be uploaded instantly. Be sure to crop and edit them before uploading. Lingofriends only accept .jpg or jpeg file formats.
What does Online Now mean?
Lingofriends has developed a feature to allow you to see which of your fellow Lingofriends members have been on the site recently.
How do I search for a Lingo friend?
The short answer is this: Searching on Lingofriends is done by you. You can search for certain characteristics such as, language, interests, nationality, age, gender etc. When you perform a search, you are specifying what types of members you want to see.
How do I change my password or username?
It's easy to change your password or username at any time. Just visit the "My Profile" edit section in the Navigation tool bar at the top of every page
How much does it cost to become a member?

Lingofriends is a language community that offers a two way learning method: Language exchange and a network of private language teachers – the Mentor Program. Language exchange on Lingofriends is free of charge. If you for example only are interested in learning a language. Then the Mentor program could be something for you. The lessons offered by the mentors on Lingofriends most often come with a fee, depending on your choice of lessons and mentor.
What is the mentor program?
Lingofriends Mentor Program can be described as a language lesson brokerage service. The service consists of a network of mentors that have a burning interest of teaching a language and are offering their service for a fee. Lingofriends mediates the mentors' language lessons that most often are held through IM’s, such as MSN Messenger and Skype. You can read more about the Mentor Program here .
How do I become a mentor?
You first need to sign up as a regular member if you are interested in becoming a mentor. When you have registered and are logged in, you can sign up for a mentor here .
Are there any prerequisites for becoming a mentor?
To be able to sign up as a Mentor you need to have a personal Paypal account. Signing up for a personal Paypal account is totally free. You need the account for receiving your earned amount at our service. Sign up for a personal Paypal account here. Sweden location isn't granted. A mentor cannot be nationally registered in Sweden, therefore you can’t register as a mentor if you are living in Sweden, due to VAT limitations. The minimum age for signing up as a Mentor is 18 years old.
How much does a lesson from a mentor cost?
Today we have a fixed rate on the lessons the mentors are offering. The mentors need to offer free lessons until they get feedback from three members. When they have got their feedback they are permitted to charge for their services. You can see the lesson prices on each mentors profile.
What actions on Lingofriends are cost related?
Lingofriends is a language community that offers a two way learning method: Language exchange and a network of private language teachers – the Mentor Program. Can I trust the mentors?
The mentors aren't employed by Lingofriends, they are private persons from all over the world. Our ambition is to offer a high quality network of people that teaches languages. Therefor we encourage all members to rate our mentors. The stars on each mentor’s profile visualize their quality. The students feedback isn’t editable, which leads to high qualitative mentors will get lots of lessons requests and vice versa. In this way the rating functionality becomes a self-remedial system. Are you about to request a lesson from a mentor? Feel free to ask students of any mentor about his/her experiences.
What is a free trial that mentors are offering?
The mentors need to offer free lessons until they get feedback from three members. When they have got their feedback they are permitted to charge for their services. You can see the lesson prices on each mentors profile.
Is it possible to get a refund if I ain’t satisfied with the lesson?
Lingofriends full money back guarantee means that the mentor agree to a refund, if the member (the mentor’s student) isn’t satisfied with the performed lesson. For example, the member/student could find the quality too low. Each member/student can claim full refund until three days after the first scheduled language lesson.
